The Wolfeboro Tuftonboro Democrats will hold their annual Summer Potluck Picnic on Sunday, August 9, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Tuftonboro. This year, the organization is doing things differently: candidates will spend less time giving traditional campaign speeches and more time sharing personal stories and speaking directly with voters.
Rather than asking candidates to repeat familiar campaign remarks, the program will feature a candidate “Story Slam.” Each candidate will receive a prompt inviting them to tell a brief story about an experience that shaped them and their decision to run for office.
“We want people to get to know the candidates as people—not simply hear another list of policy positions,” said Emily James, co-chair of the Wolfeboro Tuftonboro Democrats. “The Story Slam will give candidates an opportunity to share something more personal and memorable.”
The informal program is designed to allow more time for attendees to meet candidates, ask questions, and have one-on-one conversations.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. The exact Tuftonboro location will be provided after registration.
