Looking forward to seeing you at the Wolfeboro Library on Thursday, September 25, 6:30 pm. Featured speaker: Wendy Thomas.
Wolfeboro/Tuftonboro, NH – The Wolfeboro Tuftonboro Democrats (WT Dems) will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, September 25 at 6:30pm at the Wolfeboro Public Library, with a presentation centered on the growing concerns over water quality and PFAS contamination in New Hampshire.
The featured speaker, State Representative Wendy Thomas, will provide an overview of the science and policy implications surrounding PFAS—per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances—often called “forever chemicals.” These man-made compounds have been detected in groundwater and drinking water systems across the state, raising health and environmental concerns.
Local officials and residents alike have pointed to PFAS as a pressing issue for communities. The presentation will outline how the chemicals enter water supplies, their potential health effects, and what steps policymakers and citizens can take to address the contamination.
“This is a subject that directly affects families in our community,” said Emily James, chair of the Tuftonboro Democratic Committee. “We look forward to providing residents with clear information and an opportunity to ask questions.”
The meeting will also include brief updates on upcoming WT Dem activities. All residents are encouraged to attend, regardless of party affiliation.
